“Scars of Our Mothers’ Dreams” is a poignant short documentary exploring the lasting emotional impact on families when parents migrate in search of opportunities. Filmmaker Meschida Philip focuses on three Grenadian adults—Anthony, Tasha, and Mel—who share their experiences of childhood vulnerability and trauma due to their mothers’ extended absence. The film also reflects Meschida’s personal story of being left behind for seven years before reuniting with her mother. Through these narratives, the documentary delves into themes of parental migration, emotional trauma, childhood abandonment, and the healing process.
